RENEWVIA EXPANDS TEAM IN AFRICA TO MEET GROWING DEMANDS FOR OFF-GRID SOLAR ENERGY

May 5, 2020

NAIROBI, May 5, 2020 – Renewvia Energy Corporation today announced it has expanded its Africa team with two new hires dedicated to growing Renewvia’s work in key markets across the continent.

Grace Perkins has joined as Business development manager, and Carol Martines has joined as an Engineer, both based in Nairobi.

Renewvia has been actively scaling up its sustainable rural electrification projects in sub-Saharan Africa, in areas that are either unserved by conventional utilities, or ineligible for grid extension. Last month, it announced the formation of a special purpose entity with Dream Projects Incubator, to capitalize large portfolios of solar micro-grid projects in sub-Saharan Africa.

“We are experiencing growing requests for solar microgrid development, given Renewvia’s portfolio of work and deep experience working with local governments and regulators, to bring reliable, clean energy to communities that need it most,” said Trey Jarrard, CEO, Renewvia EnergyCorporation. “I’m thrilled that Grace and Carol have joined our team to help us meet these growing needs and broaden our work across Africa.”

Perkins draws on several years of experience building public-private partnerships across the African continent with a focus on the energy sector. Prior to joining Renewvia, she managed new business and strategic accounts for SparkMeter, a smart metering solutions provider. Previously, she designed projects at USAID to support central distribution utilities as part of the Power Africa initiative.

Martines is an experienced data analyst who will boost Renewvia’sefforts in several areas, including software development, data analytics, and encouraging productive energy use. Martines was previously a researcher for Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei(FEEM), where she performed research in coffee supply chains and energy modeling.
